As an Engineering Manager and General Manager, I built many steel plants in India 🇮🇳, travelled across the industrial belt of the country and was amazed at the manufacturing and technical capability developed in the country since 1947. I am extremely proud to be born in India and having served my motherland.
Having said that India has not done a single life changing innovations in last 70 years .
The reasons are many fold:
-The upbringing of a child in India 🇮🇳 focuses on having a secured career and life.
-Risk taking is not encouraged.
-Challenging the old and stale thoughts of parents , teachers and supervisors at work is considered uncivilized behavior.
-Individual liberty is not respected.
-People are happy living a life which appeases somebody or the other.
-Decision making capability does not become part of upbringing or training at school.
-Even after 70 years people look up to somebody as a master who needs to guide them step by step.
-This somebody could be the parent , teacher , supervisor or the politicians .
-Politicians are still idolized and worshipped in many cases .
-Citizens don’t exercise their democratic rights to set the agenda and order the politicians to work and fulfill the people’s agenda.
-Ironically the politicians set the agenda in India and the citizen subserviently toe the line.
-Indian people need to change fundamentally to take charge of their life , ambitions and the country at large.
-The 600 million youths need to shake themselves up drastically and come out of their comfort zone, insecurities , mental barriers and take ownership of so many problems and create solutions for them .
Until then “Democracy of the people , by the people and for the people “ will remain an ideological proverb in India 🇮🇳. And real and original innovations will take a back seat .
